Life-changing injuries are an extreme hardship on both the injured party and their family. Patrick has successfully represented many injured claimants in auto, personal injury, and dog bite cases. He understands how to strategically negotiate with insurance carriers, and aggressively litigate when a negotiated outcome cannot be reached. Over the course of his career, he has secured millions of dollars in settlements for his clients.
Patrick has extensive experience representing both injured workers and employers in litigated workers' compensation cases. He has a reputation for zealous and effective advocacy in this arena. He is currently the president of the Grand Rapids Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section.
Patrick's background is in litigation and trial advocacy. In addition to practicing in this area, he has worked as an adjunct professor at MSU College of Law, teaching law students the best trial strategies. His students have regularly achieved success in national trial competitions.
Patrick has become an integral member of our firm's Business Law practice group, always keeping in mind that every document he creates is for a specific business with specific owners who are trying to accomplish a specific goal. When litigation becomes necessary, Patrick's overarching goal is to get his clients from point A to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible, whether that be through skillful negotiations or, in rare instances, through effective representation at trial.
Patrick is a native of West Michigan, having grown up around Grand Rapids and the lakeshore. He and his wife and two daughters are members at Madison Square Christian Reformed Church. He chairs a non-profit board that serves the Madison-Hall community. He enjoys golfing and playing rec league basketball.
